3 Common Excuses That Stop People from Practicing Yoga

3 Common Excuses That Stop People from Practicing Yoga

1.    I’m not flexible – If I had a dollar for every time I heard, “I’m not flexible, so I can’t practice Yoga”, I would be a wealthy woman. There is no requirement in BOLDtext in yoga that states, “You must be flexible.” We all start from somewhere and that somewhere may be you taking the first step onto a yoga mat.

2.    I need a more intense workout. Have you ever done 108 Sun Salutations in a row? I would take that as a no, simply because you would understand the intensity of the Sun Salutations, with your breath flow, and your body weight. Chatarungas can be modified to be low impact of high impact if you want to incorporate a three-legged Down Dog Vinyasa flow.

3.    I don’t have time- There are 7 days in a week and 24 hours in a day. It’s not that you don’t have enough time, it’s that you don’t want to make the time.   You are using time as an excuse to avoid the mat. Let’s say you don’t have an hour to spare, but you do have 15 minutes and that’s more than enough time to center and focus on your breathing and incorporate a Vinyasa warm-up.

I hope that you decided to let go of the excuses and come to the mat to practice Yoga. You will find that with an open mind and an open heart you will surprise and challenge yourself in your practice.
